Also I've done a little general site maintenance and fiddling-about.

April 20, 2006: Put up The machinery of heaven, a longish SGA story.

March 16, 2006: Added a few snippets: Idle hands, a slight twist on the Poptarts universe, Secret lover, a tiny popslash tale of true love, and Sweetness and light, an SGA story about the morning after.

November 28, 2005: A little link page updating.

January 2, 2004: I've uploaded the story I wrote for the popslash secret santa project don we now our gay apparel 2003, And now abideth, on the, what else, popslash page. I also participated in the obscure fandom secret santa project, while we tell of yuletide treasure, and uploaded the stories I wrote there: the Eroica story The rest of your life, the Weiß Kreuz story White, the Witchblade drabble 100, and the West Wing drabble A fine romance.

November 14, 2003: Put up Kristina's wonderful illo and other wonderful illo for A ryght cruell beast that she did ages ago and I thought were already up on the site. Oops. I'm so sorry! Also did a bit of general link tidying, updating of pairings and warnings, etc.

November 12, 2003: Added two fluffy little baby!sync things, Flirt a little, maybe and Nice and slow, to the boyband page, as well as Things to do in Orlando when you're dead, a bit of Halloweenish insanity co-written with No pSeud Attached.

October 12, 2003: Finally got round to putting up a boyband story I wrote a while ago, So you wanna be a rock star, and also ten drabbles written for various people on my livejournal, in various fandoms: boybands, Eroica, Good Omens, Harry Potter, Here is Greenwood, Heyer, Highlander, and X-Files.

March 29, 2003: Added my remix story, The Abdul theory (extended behind the scenes two-for-the-price-of-one rhinestone romance remix), to the boyband page, and put up links to a Japanese translation of Crystallize from the Star Wars page and to Chinese translations of the first stories in the Playboy of the Delta Quadrant series from the Voyager page.

February 16, 2003: New recs, and some new rec pages linked.

February 14, 2003: Overhauled the last few link pages.

February 4: I've put up two new cover illustrations: one by Laura Shapiro for World would end, and one from the Pulp Fan Fiction Project for Jailbait Street. Also tried to spiff up the art page a little. Work on the links continues apace.

January 24: Started overhauling the links.

January 17, 2003: Added two snippets that have lived in my livejournal: a little boyband thing called Catch and release, and my contribution to the inappropriate elf challenge, a Jeeves & Wooster piece called Pointy.

January 8, 2003: A few new recommendations.

December 30, 2002: Put up my story from the Don we now our gay apparel project, Jailbait Street, on the popslash page.

November 30, 2002: A new nsync story on the boybands page, The Legendary Grapefruit Gurus of Southern California.

November 8, 2002: New site design! Please let me know about broken links and other wonky things. (I do know there are broken links in the old recs; I hope to get to those shortly.) I've added separate pages for Eroica and for the boybands (oh, and the Canadian shacks), and a showcase page for the illustrations that several kind and talented people have made for my stories. There's a new piece of art up, a gorgeous illustration by Kristina for the Gundam Wing stories Not so much the heat and Sunsets and beaches. There are a few new stories on the boybands page: Sickroom and The other room, part one and two of Untitled series, with boyband, and a link to the third story in the series, by Merry Lynne, and also another story called Experience.

September 26, 2002: Posted a new Harry Potter story, Pale green, to the miscellaneous fiction page.

September 24, 2002: Added a link to an Italian translation of Subaudition by verapeste from the XF fiction page, and a link to Maque's music archive, which contains music for Cakes and ale and More furious and ugly, from the Eroica section of the miscellaneous fiction page.

September 22, 2002: RPF, anyone? nsync with a bit of BSB thrown in, and... other stuff. The boyband section of the miscellaneous fiction page is the place to be.

September 16, 2002: Two nsync vignettes in the boyband section of the miscellaneous fiction page: Parabola and Later.

August 20, 2002: New recs!

August 7, 2002: Added a link to a Hungarian translation of Something wicked to the X-Files and Highlander pages.

August 6, 2002: Put up some notes on writing on the essay page.

August 3, 2002: Did an overhaul of the links.

August 1, 2002: Added a boyband section to the miscellaneous fiction page for the story nick.txt, which is mostly BSB with a bit of nsync thrown in.

July 31, 2002: Added a link to a Japanese translation of More furious and ugly on the miscellaneous page. And deejay has done a lovely cover illustration for the XF story Witness tree.

July 18, 2002: I've put up Sunsets and beaches on the Gundam Wing page; it's a Theory of fiction snippet, taking a left turn from Not so much the heat. Also a tiny rec update. Yes, really.

June 23, 2002: New email address: [email protected]. If you see a stray bigfoot anywhere on the site, please let me know.

May 4, 2002: Put up two wonderful illos by Kristina, one for the Eroica story Cakes and ale and one for the Harry Potter story A spirit of brotherhood.

April 28, 2002: Fixed broken links and added some new ones, including a new link page for buttons and banners, because they're pretty. And alice ttlg has very kindly made a flambeau factory button, if anyone wants to link to me.

March 8, 2002: There's a new Harry Potter story, A spirit of brotherhood, on the miscellaneous story page.

February 19, 2002: Added a few links.

January 22, 2002: Updated the recommendations, at long last. I've put up a new Gundam Wing story, Not so much the heat, which is part of the Theory of flight timeline. Also did some link tidying.

January 9, 2002: A new Eroica story, More furious and ugly, on the miscellaneous fiction page. Some pretty award graphics from Suki da ze for The best policy. Moved the 2001 updates.

January 2, 2002: Put up all nine of my Canadian shacks. One is on the Star Wars page, one is on the Gundam Wing page, and the rest are on the miscellaneous fiction page.

January 1, 2002: Happy new year! I've put up a new Jeeves & Wooster story, Beard, on the miscellaneous fiction page; it's sort of a belated Christmas story.

December 31, 2001: Last update of the year, to say that the Canadian shack is now open for business. 101 500-word snippets by 30 writers in 62 fandoms; a big box of chocolates to celebrate the new year with. Or the old year, whatever. Because it was supposed to be 101 shacks, not 102, I have a very silly untitled shack hiding on the Gundam Wing page, in the fluff section. I'll probably put my other shacks up here shortly, but you should go read the really good ones, the ones by other people.

December 9, 2001: Some recs.

December 7, 2001: Links. Kind of a boring update. Sorry.

November 30, 2001: I've got a new Eroica story, Cakes and ale, on the miscellaneous fiction page, and a tiny, daft Harry Potter snippet, Hair of the dog, on the humor page.

November 22, 2001: Again with the linkage.

November 11, 2001: A new color scheme for winter. Let me know if anything's wonky. Also added do not archive without permission statements to all the fiction (and wasn't that a pain), which feels a little stupid and pointless, but I'm tired of finding my stories in archives I've never heard about because people take stuff without asking. Don't do that, okay? It's rude.

November 4, 2001: A new set of recommendations, and another desperate attempt to keep the link pages updated.

October 25, 2001: Kristina has illustrated the Gundam Wing story Winterlong (also available on the indulgences ii page), and this illustration really, really should not be missed.

October 11, 2001: Two new Eroica stories on the miscellaneous fiction page: And seek, and And a thousand more.

October 3, 2001: Added a story link to the rec page.

October 1, 2001: Finally got round to making some more recs. I've also updated the rest of the old rec pages, as best I could, and fixed some other links. (The list of rec pages is getting quite terrifying.) Also, I meant to say last update that my inbox has had an ouroboros fit and eaten large parts of itself, thus rendering me incapable of replying, rather than just extremely dilatory as a correspondent... my apologies. *coughfeelfreetowriteagaincough*

September 26, 2001: Livia has made an extremely charming illustration for the Eroica story In plain sight, available on the miscellaneous story page and as one of the indulgences ii. I've also started to update the links to the oldest recs (many thanks to alice ttlg for her help!).

August 27, 2001: New recs, more links.

August 18, 2001: Put up an essay on sexuality in slash, fixed a story link on the rec page, and added a handful of links.

August 9, 2001: Some design changes, obviously; not much beyond color and font stuff; please tell me if anything's weird. Updated the links in the wake of the slashcity.net debacle (let me know if I missed any). There are new recs.

Summer seems to be a time for writing very, very short stories. I put together a second little webzine, indulgences ii, a collection of fragments, snippets, and vignettes in seven different fandoms. These snippets are also linked through the X-Files, Gundam Wing, Star Wars, and miscellaneous story pages (for the Buffy, Eroica, and the one based on a Georgette Heyer novel...), but I think they read better together.

July 14, 2001: Debchan, who is in all ways wonderful, has made a cover illustration for the Gundam Wing story Chicken, cream of mushroom, tomato, new to this site just three days ago. I'm being ruined for honest work when it comes to reasons for updating. I like it.

July 11, 2001: Another story in the Theory of flight not-a-series, Chicken, cream of mushroom, tomato, is available on the Gundam Wing page. And Kristina has created another piece of perfectly gorgeous art, loosely inspired by the Hercules story As day follows, archived on the miscellaneous story page.

June 28, 2001: Recs! Links!

June 12, 2001: Put up a little vignette type thing, Deep night, on the Gundam Wing page, and also the very cool illustration that Kristina has made for And when he falls, which is accessible through the miscellaneous fiction page.

June 1, 2001: Finally got round to making some new recs, and updated the link pages.

May 17, 2001: Oh, happy day. The story that ate my life, aka the Phantom Menace AU Meet another, is finally finished, edited, and posted to the Star Wars fiction page.

May 14, 2001: There's a West Wing vignette, One of these things, on the miscellaneous fiction page.

May 12, 2001: Kest has illustrated the Gundam Wing story Drift. Kristina has illustrated Sweetly and steadily, the story about Gawain and the Green Knight available on the miscellaneous story page. Me, I haven't done anything useful, I'm just very happy. Please send them feedback!

May 1, 2001: Put in some new links, took out some old ones. Updating a link page is a great way to procrastinate on writing; I recommend it to everyone who is tired of cleaning the bathroom and sorting their socks.

April 27, 2001: I found the poetry pastiches I wrote when Ladonna's and HiperBunny's Vogon poetry bug bit all and sundry, and decided to put them up on the humor page.

April 24, 2001: The lovely Kest has illustrated two of the Gundam Wing stories, Clouds and lions (or Rising, take your pick) and The weather outside. If you like the illos, send her feedback!

April 14, 2001: Great big rec update.

April 11, 2001: Added some more links.

April 1, 2001: Rec update.

March 26, 2001: Fixed some coding errors in a few XF stories; many thanks to Basingstoke, who found them.

March 25, 2001: Updated the recs and one of the link pages.

March 14, 2001: I've added a very silly crossover between X-Files and West Wing; it's called Lies, damn lies, and agriculture and it's available through the XF page and the miscellaneous fiction page.

March 11, 2001: Links updated again.

March 8, 2001: There is a little PWP on the Voyager page that is not, in point of fact, new. Sweet seasoned showers was written several years ago as part of a projected continuation of the Sonnets timeline that doesn't seem to be happening. If the character interactions sound out of date, well, that's because they are out of date. I think the writing has a certain time-warp quality to it, too.

March 3, 2001: New recs.

February 22, 2001: A few more new links, and I broke the first link page in two because I kept getting lost while doing updates...

February 16, 2001: Some new recs, and a few updates to the links.

January 30, 2001: So, new site design. I was going to go with a stark grey-on-grey color scheme, but between that and the weather, things just got too bleak. Hence the cuteness. Sorry about that. I might try for bleak in May or so; in the meantime, this place is a daycare center.

I've got nine new stories in a new fandom, Gundam Wing, on a new fiction page. One long story, Clouds and lions, six shorter fanfic-riffs off that one, And at first, Over heavy ground, Steam, Rising, What it's like, and The weather outside, and two pieces of unrelated fluff, Step we gaily and Drift. (The fiction page, unlike this one, has summaries.)

There's also a GW piece on the humor page, Happiness is a warm..., as well as a couple of X-Files snippets that I discovered in a folder the other day, Another Saturday night and God rest you merry. And some of the sillier stuff from the Voyager page has moved there, too.

Everything from 2000 is now old news.

January 25, 2001: Wow, it's a new millennium already. Doesn't time just fly when you're having fun? Anyway, new recs.

December 16, 2000: Updated all the link pages again. I swear, everyone has a rec page these days. Which is pretty cool, don't get me wrong. Also fixed some more of the oldest recs (thanks, Dorothea!).

December 13, 2000: Somehow I feel that an update celebrating 100,000 hits should be more glamorous and exciting than this one. Oh, well. I've put up an essay about consent on the rant page (which should probably be called the essay page if I were more scrupulously honest, because I don't really rant, I just blather), and made some new recommendations, and also updated the old recommendations from beginning to end. Still missing a few links to stories, though.

November 22, 2000: I missed making a three-year anniversary update, but there are some new recs today.

Late October/early November, 2000: Most of the changes this time around are purely design-specific and intended to make browsing easier (let me know if they don't). I've updated the link pages, and there are some new recs. And yes, I know I'm adrift in the space/time continuum. It's just one of those things.

September 21, 2000: More recommendations, a little less talkative this time. There have been some small changes to the web rings page that I haven't bothered to announce here, mostly to do with rings beginning to migrate off WebRing after the Great Yahoo! Takeover (gee, I wonder why).

September 7, 2000: A few short additions and revisions to the recs.

September 5, 2000: Some unusually chatty recommendations.

August 27, 2000: There is a new story on the Star Wars page, The dark path, co-written with Lilith Sedai; I recommend reading the summary rather than going directly to the story. There have also been a few changes made to the site in general, in order to implement a consistent policy (wow, that sounds serious) for warnings and stuff. Please take a look at the information page. Feedback on the new policy is welcomed.

August 11, 2000: I found some things to recommend.

July 25, 2000: Put up a Here is Greenwood story, The best policy, on the miscellaneous story page. I would guess that not a lot of people who come here are familiar with HiG; you might want to get some more information, or even download the anime episodes. Or you might not want to, of course, but it's a very sweet series and I really recommend it.

July 14, 2000: Managed to put together a few more recs. Also, the gmx feedback address is gone and bigfoot is back, for various complicated reasons; I apologize to anyone who's written to gmx and had their letter bounce back. Anyway, bigfoot should be more reliable now that I've remembered to reset it so the mail doesn't take a detour past geocities...

June 23, 2000: I've written a Velvet Goldmine vignette, We walk like a ghost, available on the miscellaneous story page.

June 17, 2000: Recs! <-- Minimalism!

May 25, 2000: Some recommendations.

May 24, 2000: Finally updated the link page, breaking it into three sections: one for rec pages, rant pages and assorted meta stuff, one for archives and indices, and one for writers. Linked the Lisa e Krysa award that Came down like water won (thank you!) to the XF page.

April 25, 2000: Just some more recs.

April 7, 2000: New recommendations. Link page? What link page? Last year's updates are now old news.

March 26, 2000: Livia has made a gorgeous cover illustration for the Phantom menace story The entirely beautiful--please check it out!

March 14, 2000: A couple of new recs for your reading pleasure. And I really will update the link page one of these days.

February 23, 2000: I've abandoned all my old graphics for a new, more streamlined look... it feels oddly satisfying, like cleaning out the attic. Feel free to let me know what you think. (Yes, that's a new email addy, [email protected], but the bigfoot addy is still operational as well. I just suspect bigfoot of losing stuff for me from time to time.) There are also some new recommendations.

February 6, 2000: An X-Files/Highlander crossover, China, written as an auction story for Vyola, is available through both the X-Files and the Highlander pages. Laura Shapiro has made a wonderful cover illustration (185 K) that also links directly to the story. Plus there are some new recommendations.

January 27, 2000: Some more recommendations.

January 21, 2000: A new story in an old fandom: Once more, with feeling is available on the Voyager page. I've also overhauled all the story files, as well as the main pages, striving for some typographical consistency. And there are some small updates to the links.

January 11, 2000: Put up some new recs, fiddled a little with the front page, and decided that stuff that was new in 1998 doesn't really need to be on the what's new page in 2000. So now we have the old news page...

December 20, 1999: There is a new vignette on the Star Wars page, called The entirely beautiful.

December 7, 1999: Put up a new story, Whispers, remains, on the Star Wars page.

December 5, 1999: A new set of recommendations. And then another one.

November 18, 1999: Updated the link page.

November 10, 1999: More recs, and a silly little snippet, Compliance, on the Star Wars page.

October 31, 1999: Some more recommendations.

October 23, 1999: There is a new story, Crystallize, on the Star Wars page, and some new graphics, too. The Jedi wanted something beige.

October 20, 1999: I've written a little Highlander story called Hay fever, and given the HL stuff its own page. There is also a new short story, As virtuous men pass, on the miscellaneous page; it's based on the Jeeves and Wooster novels by P. G. Wodehouse.

October 9, 1999: The main page looks different, and there's a new set of recommendations available.

September 26, 1999: I've given the Star Wars stories their own page with the addition of a new series, Recurrence. Also updated the recommendations.

September 22, 1999: Another Star Wars story, Gardening at night, on the miscellaneous story page.

August 31, 1999: More recommendations.

August 27, 1999: I've added a new vignette, Left undone, in a new fandom, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. What can I say, everyone else is jumping off the bridge... It's available through the miscellaneous story page.

August 25, 1999: Updated the link page.

August 21, 1999: New recommendations.

July 26, 1999: I have put up a page of indulgences, a collection of short pieces in various fandoms ranged around some favorite themes of mine. The stories are also available through the vampire fiction page, the Voyager page, and the X-Files page, or through the newly created miscellaneous story page, which in addition to three of the indulgences also contains an old Due South story, The vault, and a story based on a 14th century poem about the Knights of the Round Table, Sweetly and steadily.

July 12, 1999: A set of summer recommendations, and some more links.

June 24, 1999: Now I'm subletting: added a space for guest rants on my button page, and spike's got something to say. Also, I did some small graphics-fiddling things on the Voyager page and the index.

June 15, 1999: Looking at how close together the updates are coming now, I'm starting to worry that I have no life. I do have some new recommendations, though.

June 14, 1999: Put up Subaudition, a Mulder/Skinner story I wrote for Double eXposure, on the X-Files page, and updated the link page. Oh, and I added another button.

June 12, 1999: Added another button, a small snippet called Weeping on the snippet page and a poem, Violence, on the XF page. Also fixed something on the rec page.

June 8, 1999: There's a new short story, Green and carefree, on the XF page, and a little piece of fluff called Ketchup on the snippet page.

June 5, 1999: Updated the link page and the rec page.

May 20, 1999: A new set of recommendations.

May 7, 1999: Added the final story in the Bone and stars series, Came down like water, to the XF page.

May 3, 1999: Updated the rec page. Joined some web rings. Also changed a few things on the main page. Do you like the new, less chatty version? Hate it?

May 2, 1999: I've updated the link page, which now includes most of my slash- and fanfic-related bookmarks. If anything strikes you as wrong, please squeak in my general direction. Also added a link to the Ghosts zine (which isn't really a zine) from the XF page. And I've installed a tracker so I can get to know y'all better...

April 23, 1999: You can never have too many recommendations, really.

April 22, 1999: New recommendations.

April 6, 1999: The talented and generous Rachel Lewis has made a gorgeous illustration to the North-West Passage series, available through the XF story page. It's 216K so perhaps not for the faint of heart or slow of modem, but I think it's well worth the download time. And Rachel has a whole page full of more pictures... In keeping with this theme, I've also updated the recommendations page.

March 19, 1999: I've fixed broken links and stuff, and changed the graphics on the Voyager page to something that is almost pink spaceships, and added more recommendations.

March 10, 1999: Finally managed to add some new recommendations.

March 5, 1999: Updated the link page.

February 24, 1999: Added a little vignette, Begin again, to the XF page.

February 23, 1999: I've played a little with the graphics on the X-Files page (but only a little), and also added small illustrations or title plates or whatever you want to call them to a few XF stories: In the bleak midwinter, Fickle flash and Hard as hell. Also done a few very minor adjustments to the graphics on the vampire page, blink and you'll miss them.

February 4, 1999: More recommendations!

January 30, 1999: There's a new vignette on the X-Files page, called No new year; it's a sequel to Witness tree and Fool star.

January 26, 1999: What's new? Well, the URL for one thing; ari's got her own domain! While the site was down, I overhauled all the story files, and took down the Christmas decorations (about time, no?), put up new graphics for the Voyager story page and the vampire story page, separated the old recommendations into three different pages, one for 1997, one for 1998, and one for 1999, and added several new recommendations. I've also fiddled a little with the layout on most of the pages, moved a couple of story files, and taken down some of the snippets. There's another cover illustration for Ghosts up, by luin. I think that's it, but if you find any other changes, they're probably deliberate. Please let me know if something isn't working!

January 7, 1999: The first recommendations of 1999!

December 18: Several nice people voted for my stuff in the Reader's Choice awards and the Golden Rat awards, so now I have some pretty graphics on my vampire story page. Thank you very much! (Okay, the graphics aren't actually on that page, because they demand a black background, but you can get to them from there, if you want to see the cute little ratties!) And I have updated the recommendations page.

December 11: The vignette Fool star is a sequel to Witness tree. Both are available on the X-Files page.

December 6: I've updated the recommendations again.

December 1: Well, the Christmas decorations are up. So is a new vignette, Induction (part of the Forlorn hope series), on the XF story page. I've also finally put up my own copy of ...and we are always there, a story primarily written by Auden and Terri Botta, but with an epilogue, or whatever you want to call it, by yours truly. It's a vampire story, so it's on the vampire story page, of course. And I've added another couple of links.

November 26: More recommendations.

November 13: Updated the recommendations again. I've been reading a lot lately.

November 5: I've taken down the Halloween decorations, and added another button.

October 29: The recommendations page leads an active life these days. I've also fixed A monument more lasting than bronze; thanks to those who let me know there was something wrong.

October 27: Added another little something to the recommendations page.

October 23: I've found some Highlander stuff for the recommendations page.

October 14: What can I say, I love silly graphics. Just wait till we get to Christmas. And the vampire page had to have something special, of course.

October 3: Put up a little crossover silliness, Backstage, on the snippet page, and updated the recommendations.

September 29: I've changed the graphics on the Voyager page, because I fell in love, and also added a few things to the link page.

September 24: I've added some more recommendations, and two stories: Under cover and Sheltered life.

September 12: New recommendations! Get 'em while they're hot!

August 25: There is a new rant among my buttons, and I've updated the recommendations page, too.

August 18: Had to add a few more things to the recommendations page now that ArchiveX has been updated... and I've put up a tiny little XF/Highlander crossover, Fickle flash, on the X-Files story page.

August 15: I've finally updated the recommendations page again. And I changed the graphics on the Voyager story page; I never really liked the old ones. I still want to find graphics with little pink spaceships though.

August 10: Added a new vignette, Witness tree, to the X-Files story page.

August 9: I renamed my idle thoughts and the blather page is now torch's buttons instead, because--well, because I found the perfect graphics to go with it and that's the kind of sense of humor I have. Don't hurt me.

August 5: I've been having some more idle thoughts about things.

July 29: I had to add a few more things to the first set of idle thoughts.

July 28: I've created a page where I can blather on about things that occur to me: The idle thoughts of an idle slasher.

July 21: The old [email protected] feedback addy has been taken down (since I'm not at geocities any more, it seemed sensible), and I can now be reached at flambeau @ bigfoot.com. And I have updated the recommendations page.

July 8: Moved Disco 2001 to the XF story page and added three other little snippets: Cinder, Deserted and After such dreams. Also updated the recommendations page.

June 13: Added a little something to the snippets page.

June 12: I've updated the recommendations page, and put up a new X-Files story, Hard as hell, on the XF story page.

June 9: The wonderful Jo B. has designed a cover for Lovers. Thank you, Jo!

May 30: This page has, obviously, moved. After being spread out over three different Geocities locations, I have achieved my own subdirectory thanks to my darling ari. Now I just need to straighten out the graphics.

May 3: Updated the recommendations page again.

April 19: Added a little update to the recommendations page.

April 16: Updated the recommendations page.

April 13: Posted the sixth and final part of Lovers to the story page.

April 12: Posted part five of Lovers to the story page.

April 11: Posted part four of Lovers to the story page.

April 10: Posted part three of Lovers to the story page.

April 9: Posted part two of Lovers to the story page.

April 8: Today I start posting the sequel to Ghosts, a little story called Lovers. Part one is available on the story page and I will continue to post one part a day.

March 30: I've updated the recommendations page again.

March 19: There is a new story on the story page, In the bleak midwinter, and I've updated the recommendations page.

March 7: So what's new today? Well, I have created this nifty what's new? page... I've also updated the recommendations page and moved all the old recommendations to their own page, and I've added Jo's cover illustration for Ghosts to the story page.
